At Walpurgis, Swedes build bonfires. We walked past a popular bonfire location, and saw what remained — a month after the great fire.

I met this free-running parrot and her Pa in Golden Gate park. Apparently she is VERY fond of the pollen-laden centers of flowers

Of course, other people at the beach were quite a bit better at this than us.

Not only could we not fly the turtle, and broke it while trying… It even turned out that the tote bag we were carrying it in flew at least as good as the turtle itself!!

In fact, the wind often sent parts of our turtle tumbling across the sand. Finally, the string broke, and the entire turtle escaped our control…

We decided to fly kites at Ocean Beach before we left San Francisco. We got ourselves a gorgeous silk Turtle kite, and set out.



It didn't fly very well…
